Roi Vaara is a pioneer in performance art in Finland. He has made performances since 1979 and since 1988 he has participated in the actions of Black Market International.
As an artist he is investigator of experiences and his art are experiments. The happiest thing that an artist can experience are those unique moments when art takes over and guides the artist. Synchronities happen and that what is real goes beyond imagination. Vaara channels art through simple means in order to reflect mysteries of reality of and beyond everyday life.
Vaara has performed over 500 times mostly with unique works. His art is site and situation specific made live incorporating various genres of art. His art has been presented in numerous international exhibitions and performance art festivals in about 50 countries worldwide.
